Signer Labs ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Essena app. We value your privacy and are dedicated to safeguarding your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data Essena collects, how it is used, where it is stored, and what choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

When you use Essena, we may collect the following information:

Account Information (required for registration):

  • Email address (or credentials provided via Sign in with Apple / Google Sign-In)

Profile Information (optional, provided at your discretion):

  • Name
  • Gender
  • Date and time of birth
  • Place of birth

You may choose to skip providing profile information during onboarding. Certain features that rely on this data (such as personalized daily insights and style recommendations) will not be available until you provide it.

Automatically Collected Information:

  • We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or usage analytics beyond what Apple provides by default through the App Store.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide solely to deliver the app's core features:

  • Authentication: Your email or social login credentials are used to create and secure your account.
  • Personalized Analysis: Our app provides insights rooted in traditional Chinese cultural wisdom, including the Analects (论语), Tao Te Ching (道德经), Five Elements theory, and BaZi (Four Pillars of Destiny). If provided, your information is used as follows:
    • Name: Used for personalized display within the app and for the AI assistant to address you naturally during conversations.
    • Date and time of birth: These are the fundamental inputs for BaZi (Four Pillars) analysis. The system derives eight characters from the year, month, day, and hour of birth to generate personalized readings — without this data, the core analysis cannot be performed.
    • Place of birth: Used to determine the precise timezone for converting your birth time into the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar, which directly affects the accuracy of the analysis.
    • Gender: Used to refine analysis results, as certain traditional interpretive frameworks differ by gender.
  • Language Preference: Your language setting is used to deliver content in your preferred language.

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing to third parties, or user profiling beyond the app's stated features.

3. Data Storage & Security

  • Your account and profile data are stored securely on cloud servers provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS), located in the Asia Pacific (Singapore) region.
  • Authentication is managed through AWS Cognito, which securely handles your login credentials.
  • We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), to protect your data.

4. Third-Party Services

Essena uses the following third-party services:

  • AWS Cognito: For user authentication and account management.
  • AWS Lambda & DynamoDB: For securely processing and storing your profile and analysis data.
  • AI Analysis Services: Your profile data (gender, birth date/time) is processed by AI services to generate personalized insights. These services do not retain your personal data after processing.

We do not share, sell, or rent your personal information to any other third parties.

5. Voice Input & Third-Party Speech Recognition

Essena supports voice input in the AI chat feature. When you use voice input, your audio is sent to a third-party speech recognition service for real-time transcription. The details are as follows:

  1. When audio is captured: Audio is captured only while you actively press and hold the record button in the AI chat input. Recording stops the moment you release. Essena does not perform background listening or continuous recording.
  2. Recipient: Volcengine Speech Recognition (Volcengine ASR), operated by Beijing Volcano Engine Technology Co., Ltd. (a ByteDance subsidiary), endpoint openspeech.bytedance.com.
  3. Transmission: TLS-encrypted WebSocket (WSS), end-to-end encrypted between your device and the ASR endpoint.
  4. Purpose: Solely for real-time speech-to-text transcription. The transcribed text is then sent into the AI chat. Never used for identity recognition, advertising attribution, user profiling, or any other purpose.
  5. Retention: Essena does not store any user voice audio. Audio exists only in the transmission pipeline for the time needed to complete transcription and is discarded thereafter. Not retained on Essena's servers.
  6. Model training: Voice audio is not used to train any Essena or third-party model.
  7. Your rights: You can revoke microphone access at any time via iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone > Ling. Once revoked, voice input will be unavailable, but text input and all other features remain unaffected.

6. Analytics & Tracking

We do not employ analytics tools, cookies, or similar tracking technologies—either on our website or within the app—beyond what Apple provides by default through the App Store. We do not monitor your in-app activity.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

  • Your data is retained for as long as your account is active.
  • You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings > Delete Account). Upon deletion, all your personal data, including profile information and generated analysis data, will be permanently removed from our servers.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you (visible in your app profile).
  • Correct your personal data by updating your profile in the app.
  • Delete your data by deleting your account through the app.
  • Withdraw consent by choosing not to provide optional profile information.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), you may also exercise additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any revisions will be posted here, with the effective date indicated at the top of the document.

    • 姓名： 用于 App 内个性化展示，以及 AI 助手在对话中自然地称呼您。
    • 出生日期与时间： 八字（四柱）分析的基础输入。系统根据出生的年、月、日、时推导八字，生成个性化解读；若缺少此数据，核心分析无法进行。
    • 出生地： 用于确定将出生时间转换为中华农历（阴阳合历）时的精确时区，直接影响分析的准确性。
    • 性别： 用于细化分析结果，部分传统解读框架因性别而异。
  • 语言偏好： 您的语言设置用于以您偏好的语言呈现内容。

我们不会将您的数据用于广告、向第三方营销，或在 App 所述功能之外进行用户画像。

3. 数据存储与安全

  • 您的账户与个人资料数据安全存储于 Amazon Web Services（AWS）云服务器，位于亚太（新加坡）区域。
  • 身份验证通过 AWS Cognito 管理，安全地处理您的登录凭证。
  • 我们采用行业标准的安全措施，包括传输加密（HTTPS/TLS），以保护您的数据。

4. 第三方服务

Essena 使用以下第三方服务：

5. 语音输入与第三方语音识别服务

  1. 采集时机： 仅在您主动按住 AI 对话输入框的录音按钮时才采集麦克风音频，松开即停止。App 不做后台监听或持续录音。
  2. 数据接收方： 北京火山引擎科技有限公司（字节跳动旗下）提供的"火山引擎语音识别服务（Volcengine ASR）"，接收域名 openspeech.bytedance.com。
  3. 传输方式： TLS 加密的 WebSocket（WSS）连接，设备与 ASR 服务端之间全程加密传输。
  4. 使用目的： 仅用于实时语音转文字，转写结果作为文本送入 AI 对话。不用于身份识别、广告归因、用户画像或其他任何目的。
  5. 保留期限： Essena 不保存任何用户语音音频数据。音频仅在转写所必需的时长内存在于传输链路中，转写完成即丢弃，不在 Essena 服务器留存。
  6. 模型训练： 语音音频不用于训练 Essena 或任何第三方模型。
  7. 您的权利： 可随时在"iOS 设置 > 隐私与安全性 > 麦克风 > 灵"中撤回授权；撤回后语音输入无法使用，但不影响文字输入与其他功能。

6. 分析与追踪

除苹果 App Store 默认提供的能力外，我们不在网站或 App 中使用任何分析工具、Cookie 或类似的追踪技术。我们不监测您的 App 内活动。

7. 数据保留与删除

  • 您的数据在账户有效期内予以保留。
  • 您可随时在 App 内删除账户（设置 > 删除账户）。删除后，您的所有个人数据，包括个人资料与生成的分析数据，将从我们的服务器永久移除。

8. 您的权利

您有权：

  • 访问 我们持有的您的个人数据（在 App 个人资料中可见）。
  • 更正 您的个人数据（通过 App 内更新个人资料）。
  • 删除 您的数据（通过 App 删除账户）。
  • 撤回同意（选择不提供可选的个人资料信息）。

位于欧洲经济区（EEA）的用户，还可依据 GDPR 行使额外权利，包括向监管机构投诉的权利。

9. 本隐私政策的变更

我们可能会不时更新本隐私政策。任何修订将在此发布，并在文首注明生效日期。
